Con·fi·dence /ˈkänfədəns/
a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
If you would have asked me years ago what this word meant to me the room would have been filled with crickets! This was just one of those things that I lacked in my personal life. Confidence was just something that was not fostered in my family. In reality they were some of the most effective confidence drainers I have ever known.
Naturally I was always a shy person. But most people had family that would at least encourage their kids to step out on a limb. That was not always the case for me. I have spent years pushing myself to not continuously fall into the cycle of being so introverted and try to adapt to uncomfortable situations. It took me a really long time to get to a place where I truly understood the meaning of confidence. It’s not boasting or arrogance, it's truly reaching a space mentally where you embrace all facets of what makes you, you!
That is why for 2021, I am taking a leap of faith and inviting everyone to join me in building, rebuilding, and replenishing confidence within ourselves and our community as a whole. #LiveYourNatural is designed around the concept of sharing what makes you uniquely you. I want to see what you are all doing to embrace yourself this year.
This year, for me I plan to expand this platform to share more on things that I do health wise as well to highlight how both internal health have a direct correlation to external health. I have often been asked how I grow my hair or how to obtain clearer skin. And with the #LiveYourNatural Campaign I will be sure to share all the knowledge that I have. There truly as no such thing as stagnant in your hair growth journey, there are a multitude of things that you can do that will help you to not only live a healthier lifestyle but also allow you to see your locs or even natural hair flourish tremendously.
